Benicassim is a town with many important historic dates on it's calendar. It's foundation bill was passed in 1603 as a young municipality.

It is a known fact that in Benicassim there was civilization long before that date. The Santa Agueda chapel, or the Montornes Castle populated since before the 15th century is proof of this. This fortress was conquered by the Muslims by the Cid in 1904. It was recovered when Christianism was incorportated by Jaime I the Conquerer in the year 1234.

In Benicassim there are numerous associations that form part of the intense cultural activity in this municipality. Worth mentioning is the International Francisco Tarrega Guitar Contest, that after Paris is the oldest in the world. The Peace and Friendship Festival of the towns is also an important date. Both celebrations celebrate the contest of Platges Paintings of Benicassim and Habaneras Festival.

Of Benicassim we must also mention the Convent Museum in which there are various religious objects of historic value, paintings by different important paintors, books, relics, sacred ornaments, and primitive instruments that monks invented in 1896. The elaboration of the famous Liquor Carmelitano made of aromatic herbs from the mountains and Moscatel Carmelitano (sweet wine) was started here and can be freely tasted even today.
